Microlax is a fast-acting micro-enema providing gentle, predictable constipation relief within 30 minutes. Each tube contains 5 ml of solution — equivalent to one teaspoon — with active ingredients: sodium citrate dihydrate (450 mg), sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (45 mg), and sorbitol (3.125 g).

How Microlax Works

The combination of active substances releases the water compounded in the stool, softening and loosening it. The laxative acts locally in the rectum, so it is unlikely to cause bowel habituation. Relief typically arrives within 30 minutes, like a normal bowel movement.

How to Use Microlax

• Twist off the cap and squeeze a drop of solution out to lubricate the tip.
• Sit or squat over the toilet. Insert the tube neck completely into the rectum. For children under 3, insert only halfway — see the marking on the tube neck — and squeeze in only half the contents.
• Gently squeeze the entire contents (5 ml) of the tube into the rectum.
• Keeping the tube squeezed, withdraw the tip. Tighten your buttock muscles to retain the solution. Wait at least 5 minutes to allow the stool to soften.
• A gentle bowel movement should occur within 30 minutes.

Tips for Children Under 3 Years

• Use while the infant is in the usual position for nappy changing.
• Insert the tube neck only halfway (see marking on tube neck) and squeeze only half the contents into the baby’s rectum.
• After squeezing in the solution, gently bring your baby’s legs together and press them on the changing pad to prevent the solution from leaking out.
