What is MeteoSpasmyl?
MeteoSpasmyl is a combination medicine containing alverine citrate (an antispasmodic) and simethicone (a silicone dressing). The antispasmodic relaxes the muscles of the digestive tract and bile ducts, while the silicone dressing protects the digestive tract by covering it with a film that isolates it from its contents.
MeteoSpasmyl Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of chronic intestinal disorders, particularly those causing abdominal bloating
- Painful digestion accompanied by gastrointestinal distension
Active Ingredients per Capsule
- Alverine citrate: 60 mg
- Simethicone: 300 mg
Other ingredients include gelatin, glycerol, and titanium dioxide (E171).
Dosage
Adults should take one capsule 2 to 3 times a day, preferably at the beginning of meals. Consult a physician in case of overdose.
Contraindications
Do not use MeteoSpasmyl if you have a history of allergic reactions to alverine or other ingredients in this product.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Avoid using MeteoSpasmyl during pregnancy. If you discover you are pregnant during treatment, consult a physician. Exercise caution during breastfeeding and seek medical advice before use.
Side Effects
MeteoSpasmyl may cause rare cases of urticaria, occasionally with laryngeal oedema and shock, as well as liver changes that reverse after discontinuation of treatment.
