What is Essentiale Forte N 300mg?

Essentiale forte N is a herbal preparation for the supportive care of liver diseases. Each capsule contains essential soybean phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) as the active ingredient.

Essentiale Forte N Indications

Essentiale forte N capsules are used as supportive care in:

• Chronic hepatitis
• Toxic nutritional liver damage (e.g. damage caused by alcohol)

This medicine is not a substitute for the need to avoid substances harmful to the liver, such as alcohol. In chronic hepatitis, supportive care using soybean phospholipids is only indicated if it improves your subjective sense of well-being. Consult your doctor if you do not feel better after 3 months, if your symptoms worsen, or if you develop other unexplained complaints.

Before Taking Essentiale Forte N

Do not use if you are allergic to soybeans, phosphatidylcholine, soy protein, nuts, or any other ingredient in this medicine. This product contains refined soybean oil — do not use if you have a soy allergy. It also contains hydrogenated castor oil, which may cause gastric problems, diarrhoea and skin reactions, and a small amount of ethanol (8.1 mg per hard capsule).

Interaction with anticoagulants (medicines that reduce blood clotting) cannot be excluded — a dosage adjustment may be necessary. Tell your doctor if you are taking anticoagulants.

Children should not use this product due to insufficient data. Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended, as research data are insufficient, although soybean products are widely used in human food. Capsules have no effect on the ability to drive or use machines.

How to Use Essentiale Forte N

Take the hard capsules during a meal without chewing and with a sufficient quantity of liquid. The recommended dose is 2 hard capsules (600 mg of soybean phospholipids) three times per day. Do not take more than 6 hard capsules (1,800 mg) per day. Treatment should continue for a minimum of 3 months, with duration depending on the course of illness.

No symptoms of toxicity have been reported in cases of overdose, but an overdose may worsen side effects. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
