What is Prostamol UNO 320mg (Sabal Palm Fruit Extract Capsules for Prostatic Hyperplasia)?

Prostamol UNO 320mg is a capsule containing 0.32 g of small-filbert sabal fruit extract (saw palmetto) used to treat urinary difficulties associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (benign prostate enlargement) and chronic prostatitis.

Prostamol UNO Indications

• Difficulty in urinating due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) Grade I — difficulty urinating but bladder emptying is still possible
• Difficulty in urinating due to BPH Grade II — incomplete bladder emptying with more than 50 ml of urine remaining
• Chronic prostatitis

How Prostamol UNO Works

Prostamol UNO has anti-inflammatory and decongestant properties and shows antiandrogenic activity. It inhibits the formation of prostaglandins responsible for the onset and development of prostate inflammation and reduces the permeability of blood vessels. It also inhibits 5-alpha reductase — the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone — thereby reducing the size of the inflamed organ.

Contraindications

Medicinal allergy (allergy to any ingredient in the capsules).

Dosage

Prostamol UNO is taken once daily at 320 mg. Duration of treatment should be determined by a doctor. On average, a positive effect begins to appear after 2 months and reaches its peak after 3 months.

Side Effects

Side effects occur rarely or extremely rarely and may include pain in the stomach immediately after taking the capsule, or skin reactions (itching, rashes, urticaria).

Use with Alcohol

Prostamol UNO may be combined with alcohol, but ethanol can have an irritating effect on the urethra, and the drug may be removed too quickly from the body through the digestive tract.

Capsules are oval, black and red, made of gelatin, containing an oily brown liquid with a specific odour. Available in packs of 15, 30, or 60 capsules. Excipients: gelatin, water, titanium dioxide, glycerin, dyes. Shelf life: 3 years. Does not require a prescription.
