What is Sab Simplex 30ml (Simethicone Oral Drops for Flatulence)?

Sab Simplex 30ml is an oral suspension containing simethicone, an active substance that relieves flatulence by breaking down gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract. It is suitable for infants, children, and adults.

Sab Simplex Indications

• Symptomatic treatment of flatulence (excess gas, bloating, and feeling of distension)
• An additional aid when preparing for diagnostic examination of the gastrointestinal tract (X-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, gastroscopy)
• An aid to reduce foam in the gastrointestinal tract after accidental ingestion of washing preparations

How Simethicone Works

Gas pools form in the gastrointestinal tract as a tiny-bubbled inactive foam. Simethicone — the active substance in Sab Simplex — breaks down this foam and allows for the natural elimination or absorption of gases through the intestinal mucosa. It does not get absorbed and is eliminated unchanged. Simethicone removes gas by physical means, does not react chemically, and is pharmacologically and physiologically inert. It does not affect gastric acidity, digestive or absorption processes, or cause local irritation. It is suitable for patients with diabetes as it does not contain carbohydrates.

Do Not Use Sab Simplex

• If you are allergic to simethicone or any other ingredient listed in section 6.

Dosage

Unless prescribed otherwise, use the following doses:

• Infants: 15 drops (0.6 ml) added to bottled food, or given by spoon before breastfeeding
• Young children: 15 drops (0.6 ml) during or after a meal; 15 drops before bedtime if needed
• Schoolchildren: 20–30 drops (0.8–1.2 ml)
• Adults: 30–45 drops (1.2–1.8 ml)

Take a dose every 4–6 hours and increase if necessary. Take after meals and before bedtime. Shake the bottle well before use. For radiological examinations, sonography, and endoscopy, follow specific dosing instructions in the package leaflet.

Active Ingredients and Pack Contents

Each 1 ml of suspension (approximately 25 drops) contains 69.19 mg simethicone (dimethicone 350 – silicon dioxide 92.5:7.5). The suspension is white to greyish-white or yellowish, with vanilla and raspberry flavouring. Packaged as 30 ml in an amber bottle with a dropper. Store below 30°C, out of reach of children.
