What is Nurofen 400mg?
Nurofen 400mg tablets contain ibuprofen 400mg as the active ingredient — the maximum dose of ibuprofen available without a prescription. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to reduce inflammation, lower temperature, and relieve mild to moderate pain. Each pack contains 12 tablets.
Nurofen 400mg Indications
Nurofen 400mg is used for short-term relief of:
- Headache
- Dental pain
- Fever
- Period pain
- Muscle strain
- Head colds
- Backache
- Flu
- Osteoarthritis
Who Can Use Nurofen 400mg?
Nurofen 400mg can be used by adults and children aged 12 years and older. It should only be used for short-term management.
Dosage
Take one tablet every four hours as required. The maximum dose is three tablets in 24 hours. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen, or if you need to take the medicine for more than 3 days.
Contraindications — Do Not Use Nurofen 400mg If You:
- Are allergic to any ingredient
- Have cardiovascular disease including high blood pressure
- Have diabetes, heart failure, or severe kidney failure
- Have an over-active thyroid gland
- Have a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding
- Have closed angle glaucoma
Caution is required if you have a history of asthma or other breathing disorders.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Do not use Nurofen 400mg if you are in the third trimester of pregnancy. If you are in the first or second trimester, contact your GP or hospital doctor before use. Nurofen 400mg tablets are unlikely to affect breastfed infants.

Storage
