What is Flavamed 30mg? Ambroxol Hydrochloride Tablets for Bronchitis and Respiratory Disease
Flavamed 30mg is a mucolytic drug containing the active substance ambroxol hydrochloride. It is used in diseases of the lungs and bronchitis accompanied by the formation of thick bronchial secretions (mucus). Flavamed liquefies thick bronchial secretions and allows their easy detachment by coughing.
Before Taking Flavamed
Do not take Flavamed if you:
- Are hypersensitive (allergic) to ambroxol hydrochloride or any other ingredient
- Are a child under 6 years — Flavamed can only be used by children over 6 years
Take Special Care With Flavamed If You Have
- Previously experienced very severe skin hypersensitivity reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome or Lyell’s syndrome) — if changes in skin and mucous membranes occur, stop taking immediately and see a doctor at once
- Renal impairment or severe hepatic disease — use only with caution at longer intervals or a reduced dose
- A rare disease with increased bronchial mucus production (e.g. fixed cilia syndrome) — Flavamed can only be used under medical supervision, as mucus cannot be separated from the lung in such cases
- Peptic ulcer disease — mucolytics can irritate the stomach lining; consult your doctor before use
Drug Interactions
No clinically significant adverse interactions with other medications have been reported.
