What is Tantum Verde 3mg Pastilles (Benzydamine Hydrochloride Lozenges for Mouth and Throat)?

Tantum Verde 3mg pastilles contain benzydamine hydrochloride as their active ingredient, which has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. After rapid absorption and local accumulation in the inflamed tissue, symptoms subside. Tantum Verde is well tolerated locally and provides targeted therapy of inflammation symptoms and swallowing difficulties.

Tantum Verde Pastilles Indications

Symptomatic treatment of painful inflammations of the mouth and throat, including:

• Gingivitis (inflammation of the gums)
• Tonsillitis
• Inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa and larynx

Tantum Verde is suitable for relieving symptoms, especially those associated with colds. If you do not feel better or your condition worsens after 3 days, consult your doctor.

Do Not Use Tantum Verde Pastilles If

• You are allergic to benzydamine or any other ingredient listed in section 6.

Warnings and Precautions

• Long-term use may cause sensitisation — if this occurs or side effects appear, temporarily discontinue and consult your doctor.
• If nausea or vomiting occur, temporarily discontinue use.
• Use with caution if you have a history of bronchial asthma, as bronchospasm may develop.
• If pain in the mouth or throat increases, or if there is no improvement within 3 days, contact your doctor or dentist.
• If you are hypersensitive to salicylic acid or other NSAIDs, use with benzydamine hydrochloride is not recommended.
• Long-term use could affect the bacterial flora of the oral cavity.

This medicinal product contains 3.5 mg aspartame per lozenge. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It can be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare congenital condition in which phenylalanine accumulates because the body cannot break it down properly.

Tantum Verde pastilles contain isomalt. Please take only after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.

Pregnancy, Breast-feeding, and Driving

If used as directed, Tantum Verde may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It has no or negligible effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines — no interactions are known.

Dosage

• Adults, adolescents, and children over 6 years: 3–4 lozenges per day. Let the lozenge dissolve slowly in the mouth. Treatment must not last longer than 7 days.
• Children aged 6–11 years: Use under adult supervision only.
• Children under 6 years: Tantum Verde Pastilles are not suitable due to the pharmaceutical form; Tantum Verde Spray is available for younger children.
• Elderly patients and patients with impaired kidney or liver function: Same dosage and method of use as for adults, unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor.

Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten to take a lozenge previously.
